Making A Mountain Out of A Molehill
Last year during the late summer I went in to my dentist for a routine cleaning and checkup. After the dental hygienist finished cleaning, the doctor came into to finish up the appointment. He took a good look at my x-rays and informed me that it looked like it was time to get my wisdom teeth out. It was the dreaded wisdom teeth removal! With a sigh, I knew it was time to just get it over with, and I made the appointment at the front desk for a week before Thanksgiving.
One day before the extraction, I went into the office and received instruction and medication to take that night so I would be prepped for the surgery the next day. I had opted for a sedative instead of total anesthesia, which I was hoping wasn’t the wrong choice. The horrible day arrived more quickly than I wished. I went to the dental office and reluctantly sat down on the dental chair. And that was it. The big ordeal that I was dreading wasn’t an ordeal at all. I was sedated and the extraction was completed quickly and with no pain. A relative was there to drive me home and I slept off the sedative. Though there was some pain in the days that followed, it was much less than I was expecting and in the weeks after surgery the area healed normally. I had made a mountain out of a molehill and my dentist had done a wonderful job.
